Winter 2006:

Dying

Kudakwashe Mutyambizi

Cell 2 Soul. 2006 Winter; 2(4):a19

I am dying

I tell you so every day
Each time we go for the interview
How are you doing today, sir?
I am dying
Just like I was yesterday

But
It is more important to you
How I slept, whether I had any
Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
Or any thoughts of hurting myself
Or anyone else

I hear your conversations to each other sometimes
His labs are disconcerting
Trying to figure it out
Even though I already told you
I am dying

My teeth are melting
My bones are drying
My skull is empty
My blood has turned to wax
I am passing before you
Your response?
Psychotic depression
Somatic manifestations

Just you wait and see

I am dying
